Virtual servers and storage systems, 7.5 hp

The course is based on lectures on virtualization and storage systems architecture and the methods and techniques for planning, handling and maintenance. Each student group contstructs its own platform for virtualization, with vSphere server administration, ESXi servers as hypervisors and related storage systems with SAN technology. This platform is then used as a an environment for virtual servers, virtual private network (switched) and iSCSI-based storage. The environment is then raised to production quality with technologies for resource allocation, high availability, fault tolerance and security. The course also deals with methods for creating and managing virtual machines by including templates, scripts, monitoring.
