This course provides insight into the welding metallurgy of steels and cast irons that are commonly used in the industry by first proving an overview of related manufacturing processes to understand the connection to the material's properties and their influence on the welding process. It is studied how thermal cycles, present during welding, change the microstructure and properties of welded material. Furthermore, the course covers various aspects related to welding metallurgy: quality, defects, and corrosion properties, as well as different mechanical failure mechanisms.
