Advanced level education in electrical engineering is in strong demand from the industry, as that competence is absolutely necessary for business climate change and for the electrification of society. The challenges in the energy system are growing with the ongoing electrification, where the electrification of the vehicle fleet is an important part, and that electricity production from unplanned sources is increasing sharply. The changes for both industries and the vehicle fleet as well as the changes in the power system lead to new challenges and the need for new skills.

According to Svensk Näringsliv, 60% of Swedish companies believe that a lack of skills hinders climate change and 71% feel that it is difficult to recruit competent personnel in electrical engineering. This demonstrates the importance of providing advanced level education in electromobility, the need to make visible the course offerings that exist today, and the importance of compiling how the need will look in a few years' time.

The purpose of this project is to compile the skills development that Swedish universities today offer in terms of courses aimed at professionals in electromobility and to identify gaps in the range of skills that are necessary to enable future electrification.

The project is carried out within the framework of the Swedish Electromobility Center and will be reported to the management on two occasions during 2024.
