Opportunities and Challenges of Neurodiversity in Manufacturing: Developing and Adapting Human Resource Management for Neurodiverse Workplaces
In the project, opportunities and challenges with neurological diversity will be studied.
Neurodiversity is an umbrella concept for various neuro-cognitive developmental conditions such as autism and ADHD. Contemporary research on entrepreneurship has demonstrated that CEOs with, for example, ADHD will result in increased creativity and innovation. However, even though about 15% of the population are neurodiverse, research on how to fully realize the potential of such individuals at the employee-level is very scarce. In this project, opportunities and challenges with neurological diversity will be examined. Human resource management practices in medium-sized and large manufacturing companies will constitute the empirical setting of the project. The project will be based on the perspective and experiences of HR managers and the project will involve the project leader and a PhD student.
