This project aims to develop a new method for non-destructive testing of concrete structures based on mechanical wave propagation. The result may, among other things, lead to the use of existing building and construction structures in concrete being optimized.
A critical factor in society’s transition towards reduced environmental impact and sustainable development is to optimize the utilization of existing civil engineering constructions. A key component in this work is non-destructive evaluation (NDE), which means that constructions can be examined without being damaged.
This project aims to develop a new method for non-destructive evaluation of concrete structures based on mechanical wave propagation. The project's results are expected to contribute to several significant advances in the development of a new method for an almost complete evaluation of thick (> 0.5 m) and heavily reinforced concrete structures.
This is considered to promote both the society’s and the constructions industry’s work in condition assessment as well as quality control. This is important in the work to reduce environmental impact and from the perspective of sustainable development.
