METTHRAM - Metal deposition through additive manufacturing methods
Metal deposition using additive manufacturing (AM) methodologies can enhance components made using conventional manufacturing methods. The main attraction in using wire based of metal powder based free form AM is the high build rate compared to conventional powder-based AM technologies. The rate can be up to 15 times higher. It is also a technology known to work in titanium based and nickel-based alloys in the capital intensive aero engine industry. METTHRAM aims at expanding the technology to a wider spectrum of the Swedish industry and to new metal alloying systems such as steels and aluminium.
