The Adopt project proposes to exploit the recent progresses of the deformable mirror (DM) technology enabling to adapt in real time - on a millisecond time-scale - the shape and/or the beam energy distribution of a high-power laser beam (LB) to achieve the ambitious goal of increasing the robustness of LB welding and LB additive manufacturing.
Additive manufacturing (AM) is considered to be an example of digitalization in manufacturing as it enables production of a physical component from a digital model.
The project aims in strengthening the international networking within automation of laser beam welding (LBW) and additive manufacturing (AM) by facilitating for mobility between two strong research environments within the innovation-intensive “Sustainable production” area.
This project aims to increase the use of aluminum alloys using innovative laser welding tools, as well as to significantly reduce the costly pre-tests in the welding of alloys in the production development phase.
