Financial support for evaluation/follow-up of crime prevention work
The initiative "Early crime prevention parental support in preschool" has been prepared locally in Trollhättan and is based on theme meetings/courses at preschool for parents with a foreign background who live in social vulnerability and have children in preschool.
Preschool, social services and the police jointly lead the meetings at the preschool based on different themes. The meetings are given on six occasions and each occasion is 1.5 hours. An interpreter is available as support. Through dialogue, information and increased knowledge, it is intended that the effort contributes to parents experiencing increased trust in community-supporting bodies, such as school, police and social services; increased social control; increased empowerment and self-confidence as parents.
The project consists of two parts:
Part 1 – interviews with parents who live in socially vulnerable areas with children of preschool age based on their parenting, trust in authorities and need for support.
Part 2 – evaluation of the intervention through questionnaires and interviews with participating parents.
The work has started in January 2024 and the evaluation/report is planned to be ready in December 2025.
With this knowledge, the City of Trollhättan, together with the Police, can decide whether the investment should continue as part of early crime prevention work.
