Forskningsområde/forskningsintresse

En forskningsfråga som intresserar mig är hur man skapar en robust och flexibel produktion som klarar av oförutsedda händelser. Det kan vara störningar i processen, t.ex. en tappad produkt eller ett maskinhaveri, eller snabba förändringar i produktionsplanen orsakade av ändrad efterfrågan eller nya produktvarianter. Detta kräver snabb omprogrammering och/eller styrsystem som kan fatta egna beslut.

En annan intressant forskningsfråga är hur man optimerar en industriell produktion. Att optimera är att bestämma bästa möjliga värden på ett antal variabler för att nå ett uppsatt mål. I en industriell produktion är det oftast många mål som ska uppnås samtidigt, t.ex. hög produktionsvolym, låg energiförbrukning och lågt slitage på maskiner, samtidigt som det är hundratals eller många fler variabler som är möjliga att påverka. Detta ställer stora krav på både optimeringsansats och algoritm.

Gemensamt för dessa frågor är behovet av att bygga en datorsimulerad produktion, en virtuell modell där robotar, maskiner, människor och mät- och styrsystem inkluderas och simuleras. Med hjälp av den kan programmering, verifiering och optimering utföras utan att pågående produktion störs eller t.o.m. innan utrustningen finns.

Undervisning/handledning

Undervisar på våra ingenjörsprogram (maskinteknik och elkraft), magisterprogram (robotteknik och produktionsteknik) samt uppdragsutbildning inom styrteknik, automation och simulering. Handleder examensarbeten, huvudsakligen på magisterprogrammet i robotteknik. Biträdande handledare till Emile Glorieux som började sina doktorandstudier 2013 på Högskolan Väst.
