Forskningsområde/forskningsintresse

Ett holistiskt perspektiv där den unika individen är i centrum i en dynamisk och kontinuerligt föränderlig värld av ömsesidigt lärande.

Så kunde jag sammanfatta min människosyn, och naturligtvis därför även min pedagogiska hållning och forskningsintresse. Den består av tre pelare; holistiska perspektivet, individen i centrum, och dynamisk förändring och utveckling.

Jag har lett flera studier där icke-farmakologiska behandlingars (t.ex. yoga och meditation) effekter på beteendet, psykiska hälsan och även på personlighetsdimensioner studerades.

Aktuella forskningsprojekt:

2013 startade jag projektet "Mental and Somatic Health without borders (MeSHe)" som idag inkluderar ett flertal internationella forskare och doktorander: Se http://meshe.se/

Projektet inkluderar två delprojekt, "MeSHe epidemiology" och "MeSHe clinical". Båda två har gemensam grund med fokus på att studera kulturspecifika indikatorer på psykisk ohälsa och psykiatriska diagnoser.

Syftet är att kunna ge alla en jämlik vård utan att diskriminera de individer som har invandrat eller vars föräldrar har invandrat till var kultur.

 

"Pain in psychiatric conditions" (PiPCo)
Ett internationellt och translationellt forskningsprojekt under min ledning där Bordeaux Universitet, Frankrike; Universitet Jaume i Castello, Spanien samt BUP vid NU sjukvården, Uddevalla; vid Skaraborgs Sjukhus, Skövde och vid Sahlgrenska Sjukhus, Göteborg samarbetar.

 Projektet inkluderar prekliniska och kliniska studier. Den prekliniska delen fokuserar på neurobiologiska processer av nociception i farmakologiska modellen av ADHD hos möss och på cellbiologiska mekanismer som visar kopplingen mellan neuroinflammation och insulinreceptorer i hjärnan samt dess roll in psykiatriska diagnoser och aggressivitet. De kliniska studierna är i planeringsfas med fokus på förändrat smärtkänslighet i patienter med neuropsykiatriska funktionsnedsättningar och/eller aggressivitet.

 

Undervisning/handledning

Jag har över 25 års erfarenhet som universitetslärare (i en omfattande internationell kontext) och över 15 års erfarenhet som universitetslektor och handledare av C, D uppsatser och doktorsavhandlingar.

Ämnena som jag har undervisat är huvudsakligen biologiska ämnen: neurobiologi, cellbiologi, fysiologi, histologi, och under senare år kriminologi, vuxen och barnpsykiatri samt vetenskaplig teori och metod. Jag grundat och leder fristående kursen på avancerat nivå om ”Akupunktur vid vård av personer med psykisk ohälsa och psykiatriska tillstånd”.
