Forskningsområde/forskningsintresse

Per Nylén är föreståndare för forskargruppen Produktionsteknik Väst på Högskolan Väst. Hans eget forskningsområde är termisk sprutning, en metod för att ytbelägga metaller med keramiska eller metalliska material. Beläggningarnas uppgift är att skydda mot höga temperaturer, korrosion, nötning med mera. I flygmotorer belägger man ett stort antal komponenter med termisk sprutning. När man kan tillåta högre temperaturer i flygmotorn kan man minska utsläpp och bränsleförbrukning. Tekniken används även för gasturbiner i elkraftverk.
